Financial & Pricing Disclaimer
The calculations, benchmarks, and estimates provided on https://goldrate.indosys.in are for general informational, educational, and consumer estimation purposes only. They do NOT constitute an offer to buy or sell physical bullion, an official invoice, or financial, tax, or investment advice.
1. Nature of Benchmark Gold Rates
The baseline gold rates displayed on our portal are synchronized from public sovereign session releases issued twice daily (approximately 11:45 AM and 5:00 PM IST on business days) by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), which are referenced by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for Sovereign Gold Bonds and gold loan valuations.
However, physical retail bullion and jewellery prices vary across Indian cities (e.g., Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Thrissur) because:
- Regional city jewellery associations often establish local daily board rates that incorporate transportation, security logistics, and regional supply-demand premiums (typically ± ₹20 to ₹100 per gram).
- Live market spot prices on exchanges like MCX (Multi Commodity Exchange) fluctuate continuously by the second during trading hours, whereas retail showroom rates are updated once or twice daily.
2. Making Charges & Wastage Discretion
The Government of India and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) do NOT regulate or fix craftsmanship fees (making charges) or melting loss allowances (wastage / vastad):
- Making charges are at the sole commercial discretion of individual retail showrooms and vary widely based on ornament design complexity, handmade versus machine casting, and brand positioning (typically 8% to 25%+).
- Wastage charges are trade practices applied by individual jewellers and can vary from 0% (in modern CAD/casting ornaments) up to 5%+ for intricate filigree or bridal jewellery.
- Our default settings (e.g., 12% making charge, 3% wastage) represent typical Indian industry averages for standard machine-crafted ornaments, but you must check with your retailer for their specific pricing structure.
3. BIS Hallmarking & Statutory GST
Under Indian law, 6-digit alphanumeric HUID (Hallmark Unique Identification) hallmarking is mandatory for gold jewellery sold by registered jewellers under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Act. The statutory hallmarking fee is ₹45.00 (+ 18% GST on service fee) per article, as fixed by Central Government Gazette.
GST on gold jewellery (HSN Code 7113) is statutory at 3.0% (1.5% CGST + 1.5% SGST) applied on the total fabrication value (metal value + making charges + wastage + hallmarking fee). This is mandatory by Central and State Tax law.
4. Not Registered Financial / Investment Advice
INDOSYS is a technology and software entity, not a SEBI-registered investment advisor, portfolio manager, or commodity broker. Nothing on this website should be construed as investment advice, a recommendation to purchase Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGB), digital gold, gold ETFs, or bullion futures.
You should always conduct your own independent due diligence, inspect the 6-digit HUID code using the official government BIS CARE mobile application, and verify all invoice line items with an authorized, licensed jeweller before completing any precious metal purchase.
